Patient Services Coordinator – Revenue Cycle
Worcester, MA | Onsite | 3-Month Contract | Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required
Sigma Systems is currently seeking a Patient Services Coordinator to join the Revenue Cycle team at UMass in Worcester, MA. Job Details
- Position: Patient Services Coordinator
- Location: Worcester, MA (Onsite)
- Duration: 3-Month Contract
- Department: Revenue Cycle
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (32 hours/week)
- Break: 30-minute unpaid break
- Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients and accurately enter demographic and insurance information
- Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, pre-authorizations, and pre-certifications
- Obtain HIPAA, Consent to Treat, and other required patient documentation
- Resolve insurance discrepancies and verify coverage information
- Schedule Radiology, Laboratory, and ancillary appointments
- Complete Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, inpatient admissions, and Surgical Day registrations
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and bed control activities
- Collect patient financial responsibilities including copays, deductibles, coinsurance, balances, and self-pay amounts
- Assist patients with financial counseling referrals when appropriate
- Monitor Patient Access and Revenue Cycle work queues
- Perform medical clerical duties including filing, faxing, mailing, typing, transcription, and document retrieval
- Complete online death certificate registry documentation
- Receive and safeguard patient valuables
- Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Healthcare-related certificate
- 1–2 years of hospital registration, patient access, admissions, scheduling, or revenue cycle experience
- Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations
- Experience in Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, or inpatient admissions
- Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience collecting patient demographic and insurance information
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work onsite
