Basic function: Under the direction of the Secretary of the Senate and the supervision of Deputy Secretaries, the intern will provide administrative support to the Senate Desk and other Senate Rules Offices, such as Senate IT/Telecommunications. The intern may have other duties and assignments, as needed.
Duties: The intern will support the Senate Desk and assist with amending, answering phones, bill referrals, filing, proofing, document transmittals, publication editing, and research, among other duties. Additionally, the intern will support Senate IT/Telecommunications with administrative tasks, special projects, and other duties as assigned. The intern will also assist other Senate Rules Offices, as needed.
Education: High School Degree required. AA Preferred. Please include verification of your degree with your completed application if applicable.
Location, salary and filing date: This position is located in Sacramento, CA and requires in person attendance. The Senate's core business hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, scheduling for interns may need to be more flexible depending on the office needs. Interns hired to work fulltime or 35 hours per week, must conclude their internship in three months or less. All paid internships must conclude within six months, unless the intern is working less than half-time (17 hours per week). Interns who are under the age of 18 are only authorized to work remotely. Salary is $21 per hour. No benefits provided with this classification. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
