Lead the Whitmore Pool lifeguard team to ensure safety and program delivery
Senior Lifeguard
Are you an experienced lifeguard ready to take on a leadership role? We're seeking Senior Lifeguards to lead our team and ensure the highest standards of safety and professionalism at the Whitmore Pool. Lifeguards will be responsible for observing the swimming pool for potential emergencies and safety hazards, and for performing general cashier duties. This is a temporary position, with potentially full-time hours available for the summer months. You must be available to work a varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Supervision received from the Site Coordinator, Assistant Site Coordinator, and Recreation Supervisor.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain close and constant surveillance of persons in and around the pool for potential emergencies and safety hazards.
- Enforce rules and regulations.
- Maintain a variety of daily checklists and maintenance records.
- Issue season passes and register pupils for swimming lessons and aquatic programs.
- Accept payment of fees; prepare and issue receipts.
- Maintain records and files.
- Perform routine pool and facility maintenance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Education: No minimum education requirements. Experience: Prior experience as a Lifeguard is required. Some experience with cash handling is preferable. Licenses/Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to hire date, current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificates are required.
This at-will position is part-time, with no benefits other than those required by state and federal law. Either the employee or the Town may terminate employment at any time for any reason, with or without cause. Part-time positions carry a maximum of 960 total paid hours per fiscal year and are not a guarantee of future employment with the Town of Mammoth Lakes. All employment is conditioned on the results of applicable pre-employment checks. Compensation shown on this posting is the entire pay scale, in compliance with the California Equal Pay Act.
