Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Part-Time Maintenance Repairer to help keep our facility operating safely and efficiently. In this hands-on role, you'll tackle a wide range of maintenance tasks that directly support the daily functioning of one of Louisiana's largest correctional institutions. Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information:

• Performs minor repairs on navigational locks, including replacing hydraulic hoses and assisting with routine maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Maintains and repairs a wide range of motorized equipment, conducting tune-ups, replacing or adjusting worn or damaged components (such as carburetors, generators, alternators, starters, pumps, and brake linings/pads), and performing limited disassembly of major systems—engines, transmissions, final drives—to assess damage and determine necessary repairs.
• Completes general building and facility repairs, including work on interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, and structural components. Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on air-conditioning and heating systems, and carries out tasks in related trades such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical to support overall facility upkeep.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: CLASSIFIED WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period.

• This position is a 'when actually employed' (WAE) part-time position without benefits.

Compensation: This position will be paid $25.00/hour.

Other Important Information:

• Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
• Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification.
• This is a 24-hour facility.
• This Agency is a Drug Free Workplace.

Work Environment: Will possibly be working with inmates to complete repairs.
