Improve patient check-in flow to reduce wait times and errors
Position Overview
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:45 AM–5:15 PM (100% Onsite)
This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and is responsible for facilitating patient flow, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and check-in/check-out activities. The position supports a high-volume, fast-paced physician practice seeing approximately 140 patients per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient check-in and check-out
- Schedule and reschedule appointments
- Pre-register and verify insurance prior to appointments
- Manage insurance-related issues and questions
- Collect and update patient demographic and financial information
- Explain departmental/hospital policies and charges
- Collect applicable payments
- Answer incoming calls and direct patients appropriately
- Collaborate closely with physicians and back-office staff to ensure accurate scheduling

Within 3 Months
- Comfortable with patient check-in/check-out processes
- Able to independently reschedule appointments
- Confident handling patient phone calls
Within 6 Months
- Able to independently verify insurance coverage
- Managing registration and scheduling functions with limited assistance
Ideal Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience with Cerner (or ability to learn quickly)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of insurance verification processes
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding

Onboarding & Training
