Job Description
Support patient flow by performing administrative and clinical tasks in outpatient setting.
Medical Assistant
Serves as the first point of contact for patient care and is responsible for both administrative and patient care duties.
Performs a variety of activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments, including computations. Typically handles semi-routine assignments.
Carries out clinical duties, including discussing symptoms; collecting and entering patient information into the electronic medical records system; taking vital signs; administering injections; performing diagnostic tests; collecting specimens; drawing blood; sterilizing and cleaning equipment; maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site; and collaborating closely with physicians and nurses.
Provides direct patient care within the scope permitted by active certification. Makes decisions primarily involving the interpretation of departmental policies and procedures to complete assigned responsibilities.
Works within established guidelines to meet work expectations and quality standards, while exercising some discretion in prioritizing tasks and managing timelines under minimal supervision.
Adheres to established policies and practices that allow for limited interpretation, deviation, and independent judgment, as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in 'back-office' direct patient care
- Applicable State licensure in field of study (RMA/ CMA)
- Current CPR or BLS certification
- High School Diploma
- Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
- Experience in a fast pace/high volume environment
- Experience with MS Outlook
- Basic Computer knowledge
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
