Oversee armed security operations across MSD facilities to deter violence and protect staff

Armed Security Guard I/II

This vacancy will be filled as an Armed Security Guard I/II based on candidate qualifications. Salary ranges are as follows: Armed Security Guard I $24.74- $36.78 Hourly $51,459.20- $76,502.40 Annually Armed Security Guard II $26.57- $39.84 Hourly $55,265.60- $82,867.20 Annually

Armed Security Guard I Serves as an armed security guard to prevent theft, preserve peace, and prevent disorder on MSD property. Provides direct responsibility for MSD Morris Forman Treatment Plant, Central Maintenance Facility and MSD Main Office. Responsible for building and site security related to employees, customers, vendors, visitors and the general public on MSD facilities. Assists with the day to day operations of Contract Security Guards. Interacts with internal and external customers. Conducts investigations related to emergency service calls, and customer misconduct. Completes written reports for review by the Security Supervisor. Responsible for logging all non-MSD individuals entering MSD facilities. Monitors surveillance cameras to deter and reports suspicious activity.

Armed Security Guard I Knowledge of security practices and procedures; knowledge of investigative practices such as fraud, theft, accidents and incidents; skill in surveillance monitoring; skill in oral and written communication; skill in problem solving; ability to enforce MSD rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to operate a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); ability to handle difficult or emotional situations and/or customers; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work 24 hour emergency response, various shifts and weekends. Armed Security Guard I High School Diploma or GED; one or more years of security experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a valid Armed Guard License issued by Louisville Metro Department of Codes and Regulations prior to the start of work. Must possess a valid concealed carry deadly weapon permit (CCDW). Must possess and provide a suitable firearm for use on post. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have safe work and driving habits. Armed Security Guard II High School Diploma or GED; three or more years of law enforcement or security experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a valid Armed Guard License issued by Louisville Metro Department of Codes and Regulations prior to the start of work. Must possess a valid concealed carry deadly weapon permit (CCDW). Must possess and provide a suitable firearm for use on post. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have safe work and driving habits. Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred. This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug testing.

Patrol MSD properties and monitor activities to deter security threats., Log all contractors, vendors, and visitors entering or leaving MSD facilities., Monitor surveillance cameras and report suspicious activity., Complete written security reports for Security Supervisor review., Escort individuals from the premises when necessary.
