Job Description

You will plan, evaluate, and select appropriate locations for storing items associated with the repair and maintenance of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines, surface ships and submersibles.

You will perform status checks of material to ensure material is ready for issue upon completion of material needs review.

You will coordinate production and material handlers to ensure timely and convenient material delivery (e.g. direct material issue, consumables, and hazardous material (HAZMAT).

You will report on material vending and ensure correct items are vended.

Must be a US Citizen.

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience utilizing core material and supply principles, as well as DOD specific supply and material policies, procedures, regulations, and ability to interpret/translate same.

Experience applying cradle-to-grave supply chain management concepts, various inventory storage requirements for ship material (e.g. long, short, wet, dry), and ability to make determinations.

Experience planning, evaluating, and selecting appropriate locations for storing items.

Experience performing inventory, status checks of material to ensure ready-for-issue, and reconciling material with inventories to identify late or missing deliveries.

Experience prioritizing multiple resources and efforts simultaneously while operating in a high traffic and dynamic environment.
