Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and initial tubes post-venipuncture to ensure accurate labeling and identification.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of collected specimens and patient information.
- Create a trusting atmosphere with patients by explaining procedures clearly and confidently.
- Perform specimen collection duties in both clinical and patient service center settings, demonstrating leadership and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure a safe, professional environment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and staff.
- Perform duties independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
- Proficiency in keyboard/data entry tasks.
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record if travel is required.
- Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays; available for on-call and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work across multiple locations with minimal notice and handle multiple priorities efficiently.
