Provide patient care as a Medical Assistant in ambulatory specialty practice.

Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care under the direction of the physician and supervision of the lead nurse in an ambulatory care setting. Responsibilities include supporting quality initiatives, effective communication with patients and family members, collaboration with administrative and operations staff, gathering patient data, assisting during examinations and procedures, providing routine treatments, documenting patient data, processing calls, and adhering to compliance with Orlando Health policies.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of Medical Assistant training, current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification, and current certification by one of the following agencies: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Gathers patient data through interview and observation, Assists patients and families with preparation for examination, Assists the physician during examination and procedures, Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education, Maintains compliance with policies and supports scheduling and discharge processes
