Advanced Medical Support Assistant
The Advanced Medical Support Assistant position serves above the full performance level as a Mental Health (MSA) and is a foundational role within the VHA Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Team-Based Care (BHIP) initiative. Patient care is delivered in a team based model known as the BHIP.
The Advanced Medical Support Assistant performs reception and front-line patient contact within BHIP, Schedules appointments across multiple clinics and manages the Electronic Waiting List, Updates patient demographics and collects insurance information for revenue cycle, Documents and updates information in the Electronic Medical Record (CPRS), Coordinates with the patient care team to ensure access to care and supports clinic operations
