Job Description

Package parts and prepare shipments to ensure on-time delivery and accurate records.

Laborer Position

Our client in Taylor is looking for laborers for their facility to package parts and prepare for shipment. 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts are available, $16-$16.45 per hour, Monday-Friday with possible OT, & contract to hire.

The essential functions of the job include:

  • Verifying and keeping records of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Packing and inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments and matching items to respective shippers, ship lists, purchase orders and other documents
  • Rectifying discrepancies, identifying damaged material and communicating this information to appropriate personnel
  • Preparing items for outgoing shipment
  • Entering record of incoming material into material log and ERP's Receipt of Goods Program
  • Tagging material in accordance with quality standards
  • Performing quality checks on receipted material to comply with all related quality standards
  • Distributing/delivering incoming material to the appropriate departments
  • Forwarding packing slip and/or proof of delivery to Accounts Payable
  • Assisting with loading and unloading of trucks
  • Contacting appropriate freight companies (UPS, FedEx etc) when necessary and coordinating timely shipments
  • Maintaining raw stock inventory for facility
  • Recording the use and requisition of raw material stock for facility
  • Transporting material within and around plant
  • Keeping shipping and receiving area clean and free of excess goods
  • Cleaning and other general shop tasks
  • Performing other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Skills required to carry out the essential functions include the ability to:

  • Understand and follow directions and rules; safely and effectively operate various machinery and equipment
  • Visually identify deficiencies in incoming materials
  • Interact appropriately and collaborate with fellow employees and management; communicate effectively (written and oral) with other employees and management
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Work efficiently in a fast paced manufacturing environment with the flexibility to prioritize duties and multi-task at different levels

Equipment operated as part of the essential functions: (includes but is not limited to)

  • Power forklift or similar trucks, telephone, computer and related technology.

Attendance/Hours required as part of the essential functions:

  • Full time, 40 hour, 5 day work week unless the company approves less than full-time employment.
  • Ability to work overtime to accommodate production and delivery schedules will be required.

Physical requirements which are part of the essential functions:

  • Standing, sitting, moving, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping hearing or equivalent, sight-visual acuity.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers including fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism
  • Skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects
  • Coordinating the movement of more than one limb simultaneously and bending or stooping repeatedly or continually over time.

Mental requirements which are part of the essential functions:

  • The ability to read and understand job instructions, effectively communicate and interact with others.

Educational and or prior experience requirements include:

  • Familiarity with shipping and receiving operations and or on the job training.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

Working conditions you must be able to work in which is part of the essential functions include:

  • Typical conditions for a manufacturing environment.
  • Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protection (optional), appropriate shoes, loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Qualifications

  • HSD or GED
  • Familiarity with shipping and receiving operations and or on the job training. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
