NSC Staffing is now hiring a Waysman to support shipyard operations. This role plays a critical part in scaffolding, ship maintenance support, and general yard operations. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with scaffold building and safety equipment, along with the ability to operate high-reach equipment and work in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Construct and dismantle scaffolding, safety handrails, sky climbers, and related structures.
• Operate high-reaching equipment, saws, drills, pump trucks, and painting/chipping tools.
• Perform tank cleaning and shipyard housekeeping duties, including operating wastewater treatment systems.
• Sort and inspect scaffold materials; ensure safe operation and equipment maintenance.
• Install fire equipment and load out materials in support of ship delivery.
• Assist trades during sea trials and ship launchings.
• Move furniture and other items as needed to support shipyard logistics.
• Collaborate with Paint and Blast departments and assist across trades as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in scaffold building; must possess Scaffold Competent Person Training certification.
• Certification and experience with high-reach equipment and sky climbers.
• Ability to read and write in English and follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to read a tape measure and operate power tools safely.
• Must be clean-shaven for respirator fit (modest moustache acceptable).
• Ability to work at heights above 30 feet, in confined spaces, and across all shifts.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted (and 50-100 lbs. assisted), climbing scaffolds and entering confined spaces.
• Must pass mechanical reasoning assessments and demonstrate sound safety awareness.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to fumes, dust, noise, temperature extremes, and confined areas.
• Requires frequent standing, bending, climbing, and use of PPE.
• Must operate safely around mechanical equipment and moving parts.
